New coach: AC Milan trying to convince top candidate
With Marco Giampaolo set to be sacked in the coming hours AC Milan are making a revamped attempt to convince Luciano Spalletti.
It’s the end of the line for coach Marco Giampaolo. Despite the precious victory with Genoa away from San Siro, AC Milan have decided to sack Giampaolo and trust the team to another coach.
The management has backed the Italian coach until now but the first-half against Genoa was enough to convince even the most skeptics (Paolo Maldini) to change direction. Giampaolo’s decision to bench Rafael Leao and Lucas Paqueta (their entrance in the second-half changed the outcome of the match) was hard to digest by the management.
Giampaolo is practically sacked and the club is considering various options. Although it is not easy to find a coach willing to take the club after sever rounds of Serie A, thankfully opponents like Napoli, Roma and Lazio have been unable to profit from this situation and Milan are just four points behind the 4th place in the standings.
The Rossoneri would prefer an expert name for the bench that’s why Maldini and Boban are making a revamped attempt for Luciano Spalletti. Boban believes that AC Milan need a high profile name to get out of this difficult situation, otherwise the change would be pointless.
For an important coach like Spalletti AC Milan are willing to invest more in order to convince him to accept. A few days the former Inter and Roma coach rejected AC Milan’s proposal but a more concrete offer this time could convince him to return. Stefano Pioli is reportedly the second choice according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
